Unleashing its second edition, the prestigious Rock Solid trail running race, hosted by the Kastellorizo Municipality, is being organized under the esteemed guidance of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the Hellenic Olympic Academy. Scheduled to mark the celebrations of Olympic Day 2023, this trail run will span across June 23rd, 24th, and 25th on the breath-taking island of Kastellorizo.
The event beckons seven distinguished Greek Olympic medalists and celebrated athletes who will journey to the island to share riveting tales of life-altering experiences from various competitions. Their shared wisdom will grant children a firsthand encounter with the esteemed Olympic values and a sneak peek into numerous sports like sailing, water polo, athletics, weightlifting, tennis, and much more.

- Viktor Mitru, the 2000 Sydney Olympics Silver medalist in weightlifting.
- Giorgos Tzelilis, who placed 4th in weightlifting at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
- Nikos Skiathitis, the Bronze medal rowing champion at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
- Giannis Tsillis, the 4th place rowing athlete at the 2012 London Olympics.
- Aggelos Lemanis, the World sailing champion of 2006.

Kastellorizaki 1.3K Race (For Children)
Kastellorizo 5K Race – Beginning at the port, the route wends through the island’s cobbles and ascends the renowned “400 steps”. It descends from the rock, skirting Mandraki bay, praised in David Gilmour’s ‘On an Island’. The path, hugging the coastline with views of Kas, Turkey, takes runners beneath the Lycian Tomb, past the medieval castle and Old Mosque, to the finish at the port.
Kastellorizo 21K race – Kicking off from the picturesque Kastellorizo port, the race winds through the mountainous Munda region via a mix of natural and paved paths. Spectacular views of Ro Island greet runners as they ascend Paleokastro to complete the first 5km. The course continues along a rocky path towards Ai Giannis church, scaling the famed “400 steps”. It passes by Ai George of the Mountain monastery, surrounded by natural stone slabs, then through an ancient landscape peppered with winepresses, Mycenaean tombs, and old stone farmhouses. The final stretch traverses the island’s red rock roots, leading to the port’s ‘cord’.

Kastellorizo 10K race – Designed for trained runners, this route of unparalleled beauty weaves through lush vegetation towards the island’s northern region. It culminates in the challenging ascent of the iconic 400 steps, a hallmark of the 5km course.
